Operation Phantom Fury — The Hardest Urban Fight Since Hue
November 2004 — the heaviest urban combat since Vietnam. The city of Fallujah fills the board, a dense grid of concrete buildings, mosques, and narrow alleyways. Marines and Army troops clear the city block by block, room by room, from north to south. IED craters pock the main roads. Sniper positions occupy upper floors and minarets. The iconic "Jolan District" in the northwest corner is a maze of fortified buildings connected by mouse holes punched through interior walls. Armored vehicles support infantry through streets too narrow for tanks to traverse. This board is a companion piece to our Baghdad set — same war, completely different fight.
